Tangerang, 12 (July), Like a normal teenage girl, Amelia, or often called Amel, has several plans to prepare for the entrance exam to State University. In the first year after Amel graduated from high school (in 2019) she did not get the opportunity to qualify for the SNMPTN (independent) and SBMPTN programs to enter her target State University.
Even so, Amel did not just give up. She decided to fill her spare time to study at a private university in the area where she lives, Tangerang City. While Amel was studying there, she kept trying to develop herself and keep honing her skills.
When entering semester 4 and the new academic year starting (in 2021), Amel decided to join the SBMPTN program, on this second opportunity, Amel finally managed to get the opportunity to study at the State University in Serang City, Sindangsari.
Often asked by close friends, the reason Amel made the decision to run two major at different universities is "The knowledge that I got at this private university has not satisfied me, besides that, the major that I took was also not my interest from the start, just to just fill free time. And coincidentally, with this Double Degree, I can have broad insights, new experiences, have many friends, add new perspectives as well,” explained Amel, which he also shared with us.
Even though it is hard to carry out this activity, Amel tries her best to maintain her values. The following are some of the results of interviews that we conducted with Amel using the 5W+1H method:
What: Amelia Nurazizah, a girl in her 20s who made the decision to study at two different campuses with two different majors where the two are very different. The major that he took at one of the private universities in Tangerang City was English Education, and another major that he took at one of the State Universities in the Serang area was Governmental Science.
When: Amel studied at a private university in the Tangerang City area in the first year after she graduated from high school in 2019, then after not giving up, he decided to take the SBMPTN exam for the second time in 2021 and finally managed to enter one of the universities Serang region.

Why: The reason Amel decided to do a double degree was because “The knowledge I gained at this private university has not satisfied me, besides that, the major I took was not my interest from the start, just to fill my spare time. Another reason that Amel said was "because the system at the State University that I am currently living is much more effective than which is at a Private University. One example is the attitude of responsibility and consistent rules against the rules made at the beginning of the lecture (lecture contract). Also my friends there are much more ambitious and competitive,” she explained.
which: For this question, Amel loudly answered that she prefers State University, the reason is because the major she chose was indeed what she wanted. besides that there are many other reasons both internal and external that she cannot mention here.
How: participating in Double Degree activities is not easy, but Amel certainly has his own way of managing the time and schedule of the two universities so that they don't clash. Following Amel's explanation, “Because the private university can take evening classes, so if the classes at the State University clash, I can take evening classes at the private universities. When it comes to assignments, I give priority to assignments from state universities, because sometimes the deadlines and difficulty levels are even more difficult than those from private universities,” She told us.
